The Texas A&M College of Dentistry offers the following scholarships:

Academic Scholarships

Scholarships awarded by the Admissions Committee to outstanding individuals accepted into the DDS program based on academic excellence. Non-residents receiving the scholarships receive a non-resident tuition waiver. 

ADA Dental Hygiene Senior Scholarship

The American Dental Association Foundation provides Allied Dental Student Scholarships annually to 15 first year dental hygiene students. Applications are submitted online.  Only one application from each college will be chosen for inclusion in the pool of applicants to be considered for a scholarship.  Criteria includes US citizenship, need, and GPA.   

ADA Dental Student and Underrepresented Minority Dental Student Scholarships

The American Dental Association Foundation provides Dental Student Scholarships annually to 50 second year dental students, 25 for each scholarship. Only three applications for the Dental Student Scholarship and five applications for the Underrepresented Minority Scholarship may be submitted by each college for inclusion in the pool of applicants to be considered for a scholarship.  Criteria includes US citizenship, need, GPA, and for the Underrepresented Minority Scholarship must be a member of groups underrepresented in dental school enrollment.   

ADHA Foundation Institute for Oral Health Dental Hygiene Scholarship

The American Dental Hygienists Association offers multiple scholarships ranging from $1000-$2000 for DH1 students.  Criteria includes GPA, need, and membership in the ADHA. All applications are submitted online. Application submission opens in October and ends February 1st.

Alliance of the Texas Dental Association Memorial Scholarship

One $5000 scholarship per year available each spring to D2 students for disbursement in the fall of their D3 year. Criteria includes US citizenship, Texas residency, interest in practicing general or pediatric dentistry in Texas, and need.

AEGD Academic Scholarship

Scholarships of $1000 per academic year are awarded by the General Dentistry department to incoming students based on academic excellence and professionalism.  Non-residents receiving the scholarships receive a non-resident tuition waiver.

Ausmus Laursen Dental Hygiene Scholarship

One $1000 scholarship per year each spring to DH 2 students. Criteria includes need, academic achievement, and community service.  The recipients is selected by The Director of Caruth School of Dental Hygiene, the Public and Community Health Course Director and a representative of the Ausmus-Laursen family.

American Dental Partners Foundation/Carus Dental Scholarship

One $500 scholarships per year each spring to D3 or D4 students who demonstrate professionalism, teamwork skills, clinical excellence and leadership.

Betty Scott Scholarship

One scholarship of $2000-$5000 is awarded based on the availability of funds to D4 and DH2 students for award in the fall and disbursement in the spring. Criteria includes participation in community service prior to and during dental school.

Betty Whiteaker Scholarship

One scholarship of $2500 is awarded to a first year Periodontics student based on academic excellence, need, and community service.

BushJones/Sprenger Scholarship

Scholarships of $1000 are awarded annually to D2 students with an EFC less than $5000 and a GPA of 3.0 or greater.  No application is needed for this scholarship. The number of scholarships varies each year based on funding.

Class of ‘47

This scholarship of $1500 is awarded to incoming D1 students based on availability of funds. Award is based on academic excellence.

Claude Williams Scholarship

One scholarship of $2500 is awarded annually to a D2 or D3 student. Criteria include GPA, history of and continuing participation in community service, and membership in the Student National Dental Association. 

Dental Hygiene Senior Class Scholarship

Two scholarships of $1250 each are awarded to DH 2 students based on the availability of funds. Criteria includes financial need, past academic achievement, leadership and demonstrated community service.

The Dental Trade Alliance Foundation Dental Student Scholarship

This scholarship of $5000 is available to D3 and D4 students. Applications are submitted online and are available in the spring and due by May 1st.  Criteria includes academic excellence, financial need, and a commitment to community service. 

Emily A. and Robert Walker Scholarship

This scholarship of $1500 is awarded to incoming D1 students based on availability of funds. Award is based on academic excellence.

Hispanic Dental Association Scholarship

Multiple scholarships of $1000-$2000 are available online to Dental and Dental Hygiene students and are due in September. Criteria includes membership in the Student Hispanic Dental Association, academic excellence, commitment to improving dental health in the Hispanic community, and a desire to advance in scientific and applied clinical knowledge.

Kerney-Laday Scholarship

One $9000 scholarship awarded annually to a D3 student. The criteria includes academic achievement, clinical proficiency, community/college involvement, and volunteer activities benefiting underserved communities.

Nancy Dickey Endowed Scholarship

One scholarship of $1000 awarded to a DH1, D1, D2, or D3 student based on the availability of funds. Criteria includes 3.0 or greater GPA, leadership, professionalism, and a commitment to the community.

North Texas Endodontics Associates Scholarship

One scholarship of $5000 awarded to a D4 student. Criteria includes academic achievement, clinical proficiency, community service, and financial need.

Ruth Riley Swords, D.D.S. Endowed Scholarship

One scholarship of $750 awarded to a DH1 or DH2 student in the spring. Criteria includes academic achievement, clinical proficiency, and leadership.

Texas Dental Association (TDA) Smiles Foundation Scholarship

One scholarship to a D1 student in the top 20% of the entering class.  Criteria includes Texas residency, need, and must not have received either the Walker or Class of ’47 scholarships.

The W.R. Hammond Trust Foundation Scholarship

Application is provided by the Hammond Trust in early summer for award in fall for D1 students. One application is selected to forward to the Trust for consideration along with applications from the other Dental and Medical colleges in Texas. The scholarship continues through D4. Amount of the scholarship each year is based on performance of the Trust for that year. Criteria includes academic achievement, extracurricular activities, DAT score, and financial need.
